Lab Safety & Hazardous Waste Generation (Initial Training) Overview
If you are NEW to a lab or an individual who generates or handles hazardous materials/waste, you are required by federal, state, local and CU Boulder policy to receive formal classroom or computer-based training as well as on-the-job instruction. Initial instruction and annual refresher training is required for all hazardous waste generators. To avoid safety and compliance problems, this needs to be done as soon as possible after beginning work in the lab and MUST take place within 6 months of beginning work with hazardous material/waste.
It is strongly recommended that all new lab personnel attempt to attend an initial generator training classroom session. If you are unable to attend one of the classroom sessions, you can take your training online at our BioRAFT website.
