Asbestos and Lead
Management Instruction
Asbestos and Lead Management training is required for all maintenance
and custodial staff throughout the UCB Campus towards meeting
the EPA's worker protection legislation. The initial training lasts
2 hours and is in a seminar style with Audio Visual presentation.
Some trades (such as Plumbers and Fitters) require an additional
14 hours of instruction and will therefore need to attend the follow-up
Friday sessions.Questions related to Asbestos and Lead training
can be fielded by calling the EH&S office, (303) 492-6025,
or sending e-mail entitled 'Asb/Lead training' to EHS@colorado.edu.

Emergency Management Training
The Emergency Management unit can provide training in emergency reporting,
emergency response, and Incident Command System (ICS) tailored
for your organization. The unit can also facilitate or conduct
exercises or drills to practice organizational level plans.
Examples of training include:

Reporting and responding to emergencies for
all employees. The mechanics of reporting an emergency on campus
to include basic instructions for using the 9-1-1 system and
a broad overview of how the Incident Command System is employed
during campus emergencies. (ICS 100 level class.)

Incident Command System training for supervisors
and managers. A more detailed explanation of the Incident Command
System and how it is utilized during campus emergencies. (ICS
200 level class.)

Incident Command System training for directors
and heads of departments. Explains the exact structure of the
Incident Command System as applied to campus emergencies and
specific roles performed by section, branch, unit and group/division
personnel within the structure. (ICS 300 level class.)

Emergency Operations Center procedures. The
role and possible organization of an emergency operations center.

Business continuity, business recovery, emergency
and contingency planning. Discusses how to prepare these types
of plan at organizational level, with examples and templates.

Exercises. Orientation, table top, functional
or full scale exercises to test plans or procedures.

Haz Mat/Waste Management Generator
Instruction
Annual instruction for all hazardous material/waste
generators is required by UCB Chancellor's Policy and State regulations.
Hazardous waste generators should contact their Haz Waste Proctor or EH&S
for training.
